ProSoft Technology is bringing Modbus®, EtherNet/IP™ and PROFINET® together with four new gateways
ProSoft Technology, Inc. (USA) – PROFINET is used worldwide in a variety of high-speed applications, including robotics and stamping, bottling, high-speed conveying and paper press. As the standard Ethernet protocol for Siemens® and new GE PACs, it’s used in industries around the globe.

Now, ProSoft Technology is helping users connect PROFINET controllers and Modbus or EtherNet/IP devices with four new gateways.

If you have Modbus equipment on several networks, our PROFINET Device to Modbus Serial Gateway with four Serial ports can help. Want to avoid changing IP addresses to have your OEM machine communicate with your PLC? The Modbus® TCP/IP to PROFINET Device Gateway allows users to do just that by communicating with devices that are on two different subnets. If you need to connect to a single serial network, the Modbus Serial to PROFINET Device Gateway is the answer. If your devices are all on the same subnet, our Modbus TCP/IP to PROFINET Device Gateway is ideal.

These gateways join our PLX30 family of gateways, which also includes the EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET Device Gateway. That gateway can be used in a variety of applications, including those involving PLC-to-PLC interlocking, a SCADA interface or data concentration. Our EtherNet/IP™ driver supports multiple I/O connections offering you fast, consistent data delivery and the ability to prioritize data transfers by setting different update rates for control and diagnostic data. This allows you to send low-priority data at slower rates.

All four gateways enable high-speed bi-directional data transfers, supporting 1440 bytes in and 1440 bytes out. Those gateways are available as masters or slaves and support up to 100 commands. The serial gateways also feature a built-in Data Analyzer, allowing for improved troubleshooting. The gateways support up to 10 clients and 10 servers. The gateways can be used in temperatures ranging from -25°C to 70°C. The gateways support disaster recovery through an SD card, allowing for configuration recovery if an issue arises.
