Half-Screen Day Event (Luxembourg) - Nowadays, a lot of people are working in offices, sitting at their desks and using computers. The number of screens used is increasing more and more. In the 90s, it was normal to have only one screen - now, it is very common to find people using two screens (or even more).
In some cases, using more than one screen is a real need. However, many times, the second screen is only used to display the mail inbox of the user, which is comfortable, but not a real need. Turning off that ‘useless’ screen could save a lot of energy.
The idea of this event is to encourage people who have more than one screen to use only one – as far as possible – during the month of June.
The Half-Screen Day Event was created by Paulo Carvalho, R&T Associate and Data Scientist at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology for the Sustainable Energy Week 2016, an Initiative of the European Commission.
How to participate?
“It is very easy! Turn off one of your multiple screens one or more days during the month of June 2016 and let us know that you are participating and supporting the initiative. Just fill your name and select the days on our Doodle available here: http://doodle.com/poll/ztn88skpxgcgi2ig”
“Companies and other associations are also welcome to join and spread the word.”
