New NPort IAW Series Combines Serial Device Server with I/O and Wi-Fi
Moxa (Taiwan) – "Three-In-One Design for Maximum Flexibility and Minimum Operational Cost", shared Moxa.

Moxa’s newly launched three-in-one serial device servers, the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O Series, combine IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n wireless with six digital I/Os to provide maximum flexibility when you need to integrate serial equipment in the field with a wireless Ethernet network. The combination of digital I/Os makes these serial device servers well-suited for a variety of industrial data acquisition applications. “Our customers can enjoy the business benefits of lower operational costs; the cost of managing failure nodes and preparing spare parts is much lower compared to using two or three separate devices. Device configuration is also simplified as only one device is needed to fulfill all your requirements. Additionally, their space-saving three-in-one design is ideal for refurbishment applications, which usually have space limitations, especially when there may be a variety of machines already installed,” said Casper Yang, senior manager of Moxa’s serial connectivity division.

The DI/DOs on the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O Series can be controlled over TCP/IP using the Modbus TCP protocol and can be configured and secured from a web browser. They can also be installed as a COM port (using Moxa’s patented Real COM technology) on a Windows/Linux PC to make it compatible with legacy applications. All models are ruggedly constructed, DIN-rail mountable, and designed with redundant power inputs to ensure uninterrupted operation for industrial applications.

Rugged Design and Secure Remote Management:
Unauthorized access is one of the biggest headaches for system managers. In addition to IP filtering and password protection, the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O Series also supports SSH and HTTPS to provide protection from hackers. Furthermore, devices installed in an industrial automation environment have a high risk of surge due to electromagnetic pulses produced from various motors switching on and off. The NPort IAW5000A-6I/O Series offers 4 kV surge protection for serial lines to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes and to damp out electrical noise.

Select “Any Baudrate” Between 50 bps and 921.6 kbps:
Most device servers only support a fixed number of serial baudrates. However, some applications require special baudrates, such as 250 kbps or 500 kbps. With the NPort IAW5000A-6I/O Series, you can use any baudrate between 50 and 921.6 kbps. This helps to ensure reliable connectivity to a larger range of devices.
