Nexen's Zero-backlash spring engaged Brake family for power transmission and precision automation applications

Nexen Group, Inc. (USA) – Nexen Group, Inc. announces the release of the ZSE brake family, zero-backlash spring engaged brakes. Ideal for holding applications, the pneumatically-released ZSE brake offers high torque, high speed and zero backlash. Unlike brakes using leaf springs to transmit torque, the ZSE brake is zero-backlash up to 100 percent of its rated holding torque.

Nexen has released four different sizes (450, 600, 800, 1000) for a wide variety of applications. The bore sizes are available in three standard sizes, and can be easily customized for customer needs.

In addition, Nexen offers an option to configure the ZSE brake with a smart feature. The ZSES brakes are available with internal sensors, making them ideal for Industry 4.0 compatibility. These sensors detect the disengagement status and internal unit temperature and provide feedback and data to maximize machine safety and efficiency.

Applications for Nexen’s ZSE brake family include conveyor systems, robotic arms, trunnion tables, positiong indexers and standard through shaft setups in a wide variety of industries.

Apart from industrial brakes, Nexen produces roller pinion systems, clutches, torque limiters, overload protection devices and control systems. The company holds 120 US and international patents. Headquartered in the USA and with the European office based in Wemmel in Belgium, Nexen products are available from over 40 sales offices and more than 1,500 distributor outlets worldwide.

Summary of features:
  • Speeds up to 5000 rpm
  • Zero-backlash up to 100 percent of rated holding torque
