Marel Agreement with Vísir signed on Robot Box Packing

Marel (Iceland) - Marel and Vísir have signed an agreement on their joint development of robot box packing with the RoboBatcher at Vísir’s whitefish processing facility in Iceland.

This agreement further strengthens the relationship between Marel and Vísir, who have a long history of working together on innovations that revolutionize fish processing. The addition of a RoboBatcher further automates Vísir’s plant, ensuring even less handling in an already highly automated process.

Signing the agreement at Marel’s Whitefish ShowHow, 26 September 2018, Pétur Pálsson said that when Vísir installed FleXicut automatic pinboning and portioning in 2014, “We thought FleXicut was the end point but it turned out to be just the beginning!”

In 2017 they installed the FleXitrim flowline that streamlines the infeed of pre-trimmed fillets to the FleXicut system and enables automatic quality control.

“It’s exciting to be shaping the future of whitefish processing together with innovative processors like Vísir,” said Sigurdur Ólason, EVP Marel Fish.
