Fluid intelligence open for Connected Industry by Bosch Rexroth
Bosch Rexroth AG (Germany) - Motion Controls for hydraulic drives from Rexroth: Open, scalable and consistently easy.

The networking of all automation technologies with Connected Industry is becoming increasingly important at an ever faster pace. With a finely scalable range of Motion Controls for hydraulic applications, Rexroth has now integrated fluid technology in these concepts as well. The Motion Controls use decentralized intelligence and open standards for communication to fulfill the requirements for horizontal and vertical integration. They act autonomously and integrate themselves independently in a changing context. Machine manufacturers can thus combine the physical advantages of the hydraulic system, such as high power density, with the requirements of Connected Industry.

The decentralized intelligent Motion Controls for the control and actuator level cover the requirements of Connected Industry with regard to hydraulic actuators as well. The selection ranges from the IndraMotion MLC motion logic system for decentralized and centralized concepts for up to 64 electric and hydraulic drives. At the drive level, controller-based single- and multi-axis controllers are available along with the IAC Multi-Ethernet cabinet-free control electronics. In this case the drive controller is fully integrated in the valve.

The Motion Controls use software controls to adjust themselves as autonomous systems to changing process conditions. To do this, Rexroth has taken a large number of functions which were previously executed mechanically and relocated them to the software. Pre-programmed best-class controllers for position, pressure, force and speed, along with alternating control, make it possible for machine manufacturers to quickly realize motion sequences. All Motion Controls use the standardized programming languages based on IEC61131-3.

Engineers do not need any in-depth knowledge of hydraulics for initial electrical commissioning. The wizard-supported software takes them through each stage through to completion with dialog boxes developed specifically for the hydraulics. Rexroth thus makes the drive physics independent of the automation and seamlessly integrates the hydraulics in higher-level systems.

The Motion Controls use an open Multi-Ethernet interface for integration in horizontal and vertically networked concepts. For open real time data exchange they support Sercos, EtherCAT, Ethernet IP, PROFINET RT and Varan. Protocol setting is by software. This reduces the logistics costs, since a single hardware variant covers all possibilities. The open interfaces and best-in-class controllers makes quick networking possible for machine manufacturers in a wide range of concepts even with hydraulic actuators.
