The Inside Technical Sales Representative supports outside sales efforts beyond traditional administrative functions. Serves as a secondary line of communication to OEMs, Agents, and End-users to make outside sales more effective. Able to articulate features and benefits to clients. Act as a liaison between sales, service, and engineering by coordinating demonstrations, sample testing, and product videos. Interacts with purchasing/logistics to track equipment completion and shipping dates. Facilitates the proper flow of information to assure the efficient generation of new machinery quotes as well as accurate end-user/shipping details.

INSIDE TECHNICAL SALES REP ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides back up to outside sales managers and may include solo sales calls to OEMs/end-users.
  • Assist OEM and branch sales managers with answering inbound calls and emails from customers and/or prospects. 
  • Drive effective presentation / proposal / quote preparation and manage the overall opportunity process.
  • Channels opportunities passed from marketing and other sources to the proper sales group. Follows up to assure that the proper hand-off is accomplished.
  • Recommend new machine stock orders and inventory levels.
  • Gathers data and generates sales performance reporting on behalf of department to Yamato management.
  • Uses key metrics to help evaluate sales performance through sales / financial data analysis.
  • Collaborates with account managers and other departments to increase market share and overall profitability of new machinery sales.
  • Work with sales teams to manage/coordinate demonstration requests and product samples. Responsible for proper entry of product samples into the virtual sample system.
  • Catalogs videos/photos of equipment for reference and trials. 
  • Creates/edits videos of demonstrations as required.
  • Catalogs and analyzes competitive quotes and product information to best position Yamato Corporation’s product offerings and steer future developments.
  • Helps assure that project lead and opportunity information is up to date in the company’s CRM system
  • Engage with applications, engineering, and service groups to provide post installation feedback that could include system performance, warranty issues, installation mishaps, customer expectations, competitive equipment audit, future expansions, and others.
  • Responsible for cataloging accepted formal demonstration and product test reports. 
  • Perform various duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Mechanical / technical aptitude.
  • Three or more years of progressively successful experience, performing promotional work and relationship management to sell and develop new business. 
  • Ability to build relationships with key clients and prospects.
  • Strong professional communication, presenting and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and follow-up skills.
  • Experience in using CRM, ERP, Microsoft Office and Internet.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and use it to grow sales.
  • Bi-lingual/Spanish speaking not mandatory but major advantage.
  • 10-20% travel, with some potential to travel internationally.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Will constantly operate a computer and other office machinery. Will regularly move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery etc. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and lift 20 pounds frequently.
