Kontron’s New Box PC with IoT Gateway Solutions From Intel®
Kontron AG (Germany) - New KBox A-202 offers increased pre-integrated intelligence and multiple connectivity options for internet-connected things.

Kontron, a global leader in embedded computer technology (ECT), today announced the launch of KBox A-202, an Industrial Computer Platform supporting Intel® Gateway Solutions for the Internet of Things.

Based on the Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 this standards-based, low maintenance, fanless and battery-free machine-to-machine platform is purpose designed to serve as an intelligent gateway in a wide range of data intensive IoT applications including those increasingly required in industrial automation, transportation and communications.

Supporting Kontron’s embedded application programming interface (KEAPI) and Intel® Gateway Solutions for the Internet of Things, the KBox A-202 is quickly and easily deployable by OEM and SI customers looking to exploit the full potential of the IoT by extending their systems to connect with next-generation intelligent infrastructures. To this end the extremely compact KBox A-202 system comes complete with a wide range of industrial interfaces for enabling the easy integration of new and legacy installations as well as several connectivity options including wireless LTE (4G), GSM (2G/3G) or WiFi support.

KBox A-202:
Kontron’s new industrial computer platform KBox A-202 comes in a modular design based on the SMARC form factor standard and features the Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 product family and up to 8 gigabytes of ECC memory. For local data acquisition, the new KBox A-202 offers a broad range of industrial interfaces such as 2x Gbit Ethernet, 2x USB 2.0, as well as an optional CAN bus and/or Profibus interface, whereas legacy installations benefit from two serial interfaces (RS232/485). For wireless connection to the cloud or the local network, the Kontron KBox A-202 can be equipped with LTE (4G) and GSM (2G/3G) or WiFi. Three external antenna connectors enable high signal quality. The integrated SSD with up to 64 gigabytes capacity offers rugged as well as fast storage capacity for OS and data. An integrated TPM for increased data security rounds off the feature set. All these features come in a maintenance-free design in Kontron ‘wartungsfrei’ quality and an extremely compact footprint of only 56,8 mm x 150 mm x 95 mm (H x W x D).
